New research has raised the possibility that termites and their gut biota could be key in stalling for time as Homo Sapiens switch to renewable energy sources as they try to avoid extinction in a rapidly warming world. While this switch is made, this new discovery will allow the energy industry to employ termite gut microbes to digest dirty coal and transform it to clean methane.
