If you have noticed some very, very small organisms cohabitating with the colony in your Termitat you might be looking at a very interesting insect like animal called a proturan.
These tiny “commensal” (commensalism: relationship where one organism benefits without effecting the other) creatures are barely visible with the naked eye. They are generally smaller than an antenna segment on the termite. They consume the fungal growth that is aided by the action of the termites in their excavation of the wood and spreading of fungal spores to all parts of the wood they are inhabiting.
